I was wondering if y’all ever noticed how you’re always Here and you’re never There?
I mean, every day I’m tryin to get there, right?
Every day I’m kickin and screamin.
Every day I’m strugglin to get to that point.
Some days I’m smilin and laughin.
Some days I’m sad and cryin.
Always Here and never There.
Sometimes so close you can taste it.
Sometimes takin one step forward and two steps back.
Let me tell y’all.
Today I woke up in one of those moods.
You know the mood I’m talking about.
You been in that mood.
One of the days when things ain’t goin so well.
A day when you’re further from laughin, closer to cryin.
But I did it today, y’all.
I looked at myself in the mirror.
I smoothed out my dress.
Tipped my Sunday go-to-church hat in that certain way.
And I walked out the door wearin a smile.
Cause that’s the only way we gonna get there, y’all.
This is my hope for you.
I hope you put on a smile today.
I hope you take the first step out the front door today.
And I hope you find some Good out in the World.
I hope you Do some Good out in the World.
Today is what we make it, you and me.
